Secure Socket Layer Encryption guarantees that any personal data (such as your credit card number) is securely scrambled before it is sent over the Internet, and can only be unscrambled by the company that is receiving it. Breaking this type of encryption is virtually impossible, and to date there are no cases of fraud from decrypting credit card numbers from a Secure Socket Layer transmission.
